It seems though baseball will never be the same. Although in the past few years there have been chronic steroids or HGH investigations, this has become the straw that broke the MLB’s back.

Roger Clemens (Texas Ex, Yankee, Astro, Red Sox and Blue Jay) was first targeted back in December of last year in the Mitchell Report, which stated he used steroids and HGH from the years of 1998-2001. This past Wednesday, February 13, Roger Clemens was sworn into court to testify to House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Live on National television, former pitcher Roger Clemens repeated over and over again that he did not use HGH or any other steroid ever in his career. The man who claimed he  injected human growth hormones into Clemens at his request, former trainer Brian McNamee, stood in the same room, testifying against Clemens and swearing to tell “the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.” A back and forth battle of uncoordinated stories, the art of baseball was slowly degraded and shattered.

The truth regarding Clemens’ personal use of steroids or HGH may never be unleashed, but what will always remain emblazed on people’s brains is his scandal and the demotion of baseball in the year 2008. It becomes a no-win situation for Clemens: he’s found innocent, the scandal and betrayal by his closet friends (Pettite) will forever remain. He’s found guilty, then all his records, all his glory and admiration vanishes. Everything he worked his entire life for, any award won, will be retracted from him forever. Unfortunately people will always remember the bad times and his decades of good will be slowly forgotten. At this point, Roger Clemens’ image is sunk, with no foreseeable chance of rescue.
